Jazz up your breakfast

As I'm sure you have learned quickly, a bagel with cream cheese is the easiest and most classic default meal for anyone on WW. Bagels themselves don't differ too much in points, however I prefer whole wheat bagel (6 pts).

I've found the the WW brand cream cheese is the same price as Wal-Mart's brand, and you get more bang for your buck. With only one point per tablespoon it's a great way to add flavor and protein to your meal.

Now, what do you do to add some flavor? That depends on your craving.

Savory...
Normally a full serving of hummus would be a point per tablespoon, but since you are only adding it for flavor on top of the cream cheese you'll only need about 1/4 tablespoon, which will amount to zero points.

Sweet...
Before starting WW I'd always been a fan of adding a little jam or jelly to the top of my cream cheese-slathered bagel. However it is jam-packed with sugar (no pun intended) and this ends up costing more points. So how do you solve this problem?
A full cup of Motts Flavored Applesauce would cost 2 points, but 1/4 of the cup is all you need to add sweet flavor to the bagel and it will cost you zero points.

So where does this leave us on the points meter? With six points for the bagel, two points for the cream cheese, and zero points for the extra flavor this meal will leave you feeling full and satisfied for a mere eight points.

Craving more?
Fruits and veggies are free points. May I suggest some berries to garnish your sweet applesauce bagel? Or perhaps some sugar snap peas along with your savory bagel?
